The technical installation of the turbine and electrical system will be overseen by TGVHydro’s accredited installers. Other civil works including building of the intake, the installation of the penstock (the pipe), and construction of the turbine house will be locally managed by TGVHydro. Construction of the system typically takes three or four months.
Once installed, the scheme will require a small, regular amount of inspection and maintenance. This inspection and maintenance forms part of the responsibility for the safe and correct operation of the system. Lifetime of the system components varies; the generator will need to be replaced around every ten years, but most other major components can be expected to last thirty years or longer. The costs of maintaining a micro-hydro system are normally low. TGVHydro offers comprehensive maintenance and insurance packages, backed up by our team of experienced engineers to keep your system operating to a high performance for years to come.
